December 2012 Issue 11   Volume 1 CREA logo

Happy Holidays! >>>

This past year was a challenging but productive one for REALTORS®, CREA and Boards and Associations.

2012 started with mortgage rule changes that shortened amortizations and ended with a historic collaboration between CREA and the government on financial literacy that produced the Homebuyers' Roadmap, which you can put on your website or find here. In between, lots of good things happened.

The Futures Implementation Team (FIT) concluded the largest consultation in the history of organized real estate and moved forward with key strategies, including building two research panels, one composed of consumers and the other, REALTORS®. Look for more progress at the 2013 AGM in Ottawa.

Happy Holidays - Meilleurs voeux

On the technology front, CREA released a partial redesign of, with a brand new site coming in early 2013. Our mobile apps met with huge success, now downloaded over 1.2 million times and our iPad app was chosen as an editor's choice right out of the gate, something reserved for only the best! In addition, we launched the Data Distribution Facility (DDF) to help members more efficiently market their listings – uptake has been impressive with over 46,000 listings in the National Shared Pool and over 23,000 listings in Third Party Destinations component.

Last but not least, two significant new communications products were launched this year. January saw the first issue of this newsletter and in December, CREA's new social media presence was released, with new Facebook (here), LinkedIn (here) and Twitter (here) accounts. Your compliments, criticisms and comments are all appreciated, thanks for taking the time to write.

On behalf of the CREA Board and the staff, all the best for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.

Best wishes,

Wayne Moen
President, CREA
