Letter from the President:

CREA President - Laura Leyser

I approach the end of every year with equal parts gratitude, nostalgia and excitement.

This year, I have much for which to be grateful: family, friends, and a career that I love. I am especially grateful that I am able to serve you – my fellow REALTORS® – as the President of your national association. Like you, I wake up every day excited to help my clients fulfill their dreams and I try to bring that sense of excitement to bear on the work I do on your behalf.

We've accomplished a lot together this year and here are just a few highlights ... REALTOR® and consumer research panels were established to help inform the services we provide to you and also through Through a major revamp in 2013, is now a more intuitive, user-friendly interface and offers a more prominent photo display to highlight our client listings to their best advantage. Commercial practitioners can be proud of the new and improved site, which shines a spotlight on your role as a trusted business advisor. Many of you joined the new REALTOR® Action Network that connects you directly with your Member of Parliament and responded to our first 'call to action'. We successfully lobbied the government to help preserve critical marketing practices that were at risk with new anti-spam legislation. And we once again showed our commitment to our communities through the countless acts of generosity and kindness you shared through the Canadian REALTORS Care® Foundation.

The most enjoyable part of my professional year has been meeting so many of you at real estate sessions and events across the country. Your stories, ideas and passion inspire me. I know that I will not likely have such an opportunity again once my term as President ends, so hence the feelings of nostalgia.  But we have a lot left to do together, and I approach 2014 full of excitement.

I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season with family, friends and fellow REALTORS®. I wish you all the very best for 2014!

Warmest regards from my home to yours,
