CREA is pleased to announce that Gregg Bamford has been honoured with our Canadian REALTORS Care® Award 2021 Proudly Presented by REALTOR.ca. For close to 20 years, Gregg Bamford of RE/MAX Saskatoon has been a committed volunteer, passionate about giving underprivileged children a fair chance. Driven by this passion, Gregg has organized numerous large-scale charity initiatives to benefit the children of Saskatoon, and the non-profit organizations who support them.
In 2018, Gregg participated in the 36-hour Sanctum Survivor Challenge where he experienced what it might be like to live a day-in-the-life of someone experiencing homelessness in his community. Throughout his 36-hour journey, Gregg was shocked to learn just how many critical services are provided by local non-profits. Following the challenge, he had the innovative idea to create a website that connects his community with information about local non-profits, the programs they offer, and their ongoing needs. Gregg joined forces with his Sanctum Survivor Challenge partner Alice Kuipers to bring this vision to life.
Informed by extensive consultations with non-profits, Indigenous leaders, local politicians, website designers, donors, and more, Gregg and Alice created OneSmallStepSK.ca. The website launched in November 2020, and shines a light on the drive and ceaseless efforts of non-profits, while they remain focused on the essential work they do for vulnerable people every day. Non-profits now use it to quickly share their real-time needs with the public, and save that time to dedicate to their critical services. OneSmallStepSK.ca debuted with 12 organizations as active users and has since gained momentum, growing to service more than 50 local non-profits.
We send our sincere congratulations to Gregg and the 72 other REALTORS® who were nominated for this year’s award. In Greg’s honour, we are proud to share that we will be donating $5,000 to Haven Family Connections.
