Lorna Hamm Honoured with the Canadian REALTORS Care® Award 2022

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) is pleased to announce Lorna Hamm, of Calgary, Alberta, has been honoured with our Canadian REALTORS Care® Award 2022, Proudly Presented by REALTOR.ca.

Hamm, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX Realty Professionals, has been giving back to Calgary based charities and not-for-profits for more than 50 years. While she’s been involved with countless causes, her passion is supporting organizations focused on children’s health and well-being.

Hamm said her proudest achievement came when she helped establish the Children’s Cottage Society’s Crisis Nursery in the 1980s. The Crisis Nursery provides short-term refuge for children whose families are in distress, ensuring kids are safe from neglect or harm. Less than a decade later, she jumped at the opportunity to help provide the Children’s Cottage Society with a bigger, better Crisis Nursery.

In 1994, the current Crisis Nursery opened its doors, something that wouldn’t have happened without Hamm’s advocacy efforts. The Crisis Nursery was the first of its kind, in Canada, and has helped more than 40,000 children in Calgary to date.

During her two-years as Chair of the Children’s Hospital Aid Society charity golf tournament committee, more than $500,000 was raised to fund life-altering treatment at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Throughout the pandemic, Hamm led a grassroots effort hoping to thank local intensive care unit nurses and staff for their tireless work. Thanks to an immense network, always willing to get behind her, Hamm and supporters were able to provide “thank you” packages to 600 hospital workers on the frontlines.
