Innovations on REALTOR.ca: When We Work Together, Great Things Happen

As REALTOR.ca continues to innovate, with a shift from search to research tool, boards and associations across the country have been instrumental in that process.

Through collaborations with the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS® (NSAR), we were able to make sold price history available on active listings across the province — a first in Canada for REALTOR.ca! Seeing the positive impact sold data had in Nova Scotia, we worked with other local boards and associations to bring sold data to New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and now in most parts of British Columbia. Just last month, the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) became the latest board to offer historical home sale prices on REALTOR.ca.

“The Canadian real estate industry is better when we work together. Forming strategic partnerships puts us in the best position to ensure REALTOR.ca’s trajectory supports REALTORS® and their clients throughout the homeownership journey,” said Michael Bourque, CREA’s Chief Executive Officer.

Building on the partnerships that made sold data a reality in some provinces, we can continue to create additional features to enhance the REALTOR.ca experience for consumers.

Recently, partnering again with NSAR, we added conditionally sold tags to all listings on REALTOR.ca — creating a customized experience in Nova Scotia.

We also recently announced a pilot project with Openn Offers, a ground-breaking offer management platform that provides a digital version of the current offer and acceptance process that we use in Canada. The platform provides buyers and sellers and their REALTORS® with near real-time feedback on where any offer may stand on the property.

“The goal is to empower the consumer with more information surrounding real estate transactions and to reinforce the legitimacy of the offer process, especially in times of multiple offers scenarios,” says Patrick Pichette, Vice President, REALTOR.ca. “This pilot will help further demonstrate REALTORS®’ commitment to protecting public and client interest with an informed real estate market. Ultimately this tool, like many of the other enhancements, will support REALTOR.ca’s goal of keeping REALTORS® at the heart of the transaction,” says Pichette.

Regulations differ by province and territory, and we look forward to continuing to work with boards and associations to develop a tailored REALTOR.ca experience.
