On our latest episode of REAL TIME, we speak with Sandra Rinomato, author, former TV host, and current broker/owner, as she takes us through some of the most important things to consider as a first-time home buyer.
Like she outlines in her book, Home Worthy, Sandra talks about exploring personal values, priorities, and expectations surrounding purchasing real estate, and how REALTORS® can help their buyers make informed decisions. A home is very personal but buying a home must also be practical. Sandra shares a useful – and eye-opening – budgeting exercise and breaks down some of the costs many first-time home buyers may not consider from the outset.
To many first-time home buyers, the Canadian real estate markets can be intimidating and overwhelming. Sandra talks about the importance of great communication between REALTORS® and their clients and establishing a level of comfort. For example: she discusses how even things that may seem minor or obvious to a REALTOR® may benefit from being over-communicated in first-time home buyer situations.
Experiences with buyers can be so vastly different from one to another, especially when it’s their first time; Sandra explains further, “You’re using a lot of psychology in real estate. You really have to open up the lines of communication. You have to work hard. Some people are way more verbose and open to sharing, and others are not”.
