Just when you thought you finally got this earworm of a song out of your head.
Applied Arts Media, a renowned organization that recognizes the work of visual communication professionals, recently selected REALTOR.ca’s ad, “Total Regret in My Heart”, as the winner in its Broadcast 30 Seconds or Less – Single category.
“The REALTORS® on CREA’s ad committee do extensive research and put in countless hours of work to ensure our messaging is conveyed in an entertaining and memorable manner,” said Randall McCauley, CREA’s Executive Vice-President, Reputation.
A jury of senior-level creative professionals reviewed the submissions and judged entries based on creative merit, technical excellence and suitability for end use.
CREA regularly uses the Toronto-based creative agency, Union, for its ad campaigns. The goal of this particular ad was to convince home buyers and sellers to use the expert advice of a REALTOR® when making one of the biggest transactions of their lives.
“We turned to the hit 80s ballad, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’, and re-imagined it… We dramatized the dangers of not using a REALTOR®, using a classic song that you’ll never get out of your head,” reads Union’s writeup in the winter 2019 edition of Applied Arts magazine.
Since 2010, CREA’s national ad campaigns have received awards or have been recognized by a panel of judges more than 10 times.
Past awards include a bronze medal in 2014 by the Canadian Marketing Association for the “Raid” ad campaign, and a silver in the 2016 Marketing Awards for the “Motel” ad campaign.
While not a traditional TV spot, our “Noise Cancelling Poster” ad won gold at the Advertising and Design Club of Canada awards in 2018.
