REALTORS® and staff representatives from boards and associations across Canada convened in Banff, Alberta, last month for the fourth annual National Young Professionals Network (YPN) Summit. Held as part of the always-wonderful Banff Western Connection conference, the YPN Summit provided an opportunity for this enthusiastic group of leaders from existing YPNs and representatives from boards and associations interested in starting new YPNs to discuss their successes, challenges and goals for the future of their networks in a collaborative environment.
Keynote speaker Zahra Al-Harazi kicked off the day by sharing her journey from refugee to entrepreneur to transformative leadership expert. (Check out her inspiring TEDx Talk here.) Following the keynote, Summit participants worked together in teams to create mission statements for their current or future networks. The afternoon sessions focused on how to run a successful fundraiser and the importance of fostering young professionals into leadership positions. The Summit came to a close with a wide-ranging discussion, which touched on the importance of succession planning, cross-promoting events to other YPNs, and strategies to increase engagement at events.
