Working in real estate can be an extremely rewarding career, but it can also be a demanding one. With long hours and quick turn around times it can be hard to find balance. On the third installment of The Working REALTOR® series focused on industry tips for REALTORS®, from REALTORS®—we discuss strategies to create and maintain balance between the different aspects of your life.
To share their strategies for finding balance, we’re joined by Crystal Hung, a 2023 Canadian REALTORS Care® Award nominee and the owner of Icon&co.; Peggy Hill, broker and CEO at the Peggy Hill Team; and Darin Germyn, a REALTOR® and team lead with the Germyn Group, and Director-at-Large with the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA).
With varied backgrounds and a wide array of experiences, each guest has different obligations demanding their time and attention. So, we wanted to know if they’ve found ways to work smarter, not harder. Hill shares how she balances the responsibility of leading a team of more than 60, with her own professional growth and achievements as a broker and CEO; Hung shares tips on allocating time for giving back while ensuring it also fulfills her professional journey; and Germyn shares how he juggles his roles as a Director-at-Large with CREA, and real estate professional in Surrey, B.C.
We often hear a lot about taking your business to the next level, incorporating new technologies, techniques for working with the people you encounter every day, and so much more. So, consider this episode a reminder – there’s only so much one person can do, and only 24 hours in a day. Now’s as good a time as any to take stock of your priorities, differentiate being ‘busy’ from being ‘productive’, and build respect by setting boundaries to make time for the things you love.
