On February 6, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the southern region of Türkiye. Hours later, a 7.5 magnitude aftershock was felt, followed by more than 100 aftershocks in the initial 36 hours. This tragedy has left more than 40,000 dead and thousands more injured and homeless across ten provinces in south Türkiye and northern Syria.
Freezing temperatures and winter conditions are worsening the situation, with many now focused on surviving through cold nights.
To help those impacted, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) has launched a fundraising campaign in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ Earthquake in Türkiye & Syria Appeal. We’re encouraging the REALTOR® community to make tax-receiptable donations using this REALTORS Care® fundraising page.
In addition to monetary contributions, you can also help raise awareness for the campaign using the shareable content on our REALTORS Care® Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
