REALTORS Care® Week Brings REALTORS® and Communities Together Across Canada

From November 15 to 21, CREA held its third annual REALTORS Care® Week. It was a time to celebrate our REALTOR® members’ long-standing commitment to volunteer service and for the REALTOR® community to work together to support housing and shelter-related charities in communities across Canada.

Although hands-on volunteering opportunities continue to be limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were so proud to see hundreds of REALTORS® support charitable organizations in their communities by participating in volunteering and fundraising activities planned by more than 30 real estate boards and associations across six provinces and one territory.

Participating REALTORS® learned about local charities and their invaluable work, raised awareness of the importance of safe and affordable housing, and donated their time in a variety of ways. For instance, many REALTORS® participated in charitable home building and renovation projects with local Habitat for Humanity chapters and Raising the Roof. While the final numbers are still being tallied, the REALTOR® community collectively raised and donated more than $200,000, as well as tons of blankets, warm clothes, gently used furniture, gift cards, food, and personal care items for their neighbours in need.

“It was truly inspiring to see REALTORS® rallying together for REALTORS Care® Week and lending a hand to local charities in communities from coast to coast,” says Costa Poulopoulos, Immediate Past Chair of the CREA Board of Directors and Chair of CREA’s REALTORS Care® Committee. “I send my thanks and congratulations to all those who participated. Keep up the great work.”
