REALTORS® Continue to Give Back (Safely) During COVID-19 Pandemic

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, REALTORS® across Canada have remained actively—and safely—engaged in their communities.

From remarkable charitable gestures such as committing hundreds of thousands of dollars to shelters and food banks and donating tens of thousands of protective masks to local hospitals to thoughtful acts of kindness such as delivering flowers to local seniors and giving blood, CREA is incredibly proud of how members of the REALTOR® community have been coming up with responsible and creative ways to support their neighbours and favourite charities in the face of historic challenges.

Our latest inspiring story on REALTORSCare.ca details how three REALTORS®—Bruce Johnson, Jacquie McCarnan and Nectaria Kladitis—parlayed some of the networking talents and technology skills they usually employ in their real estate businesses into launching “caremongering” sites in their communities of Wasaga Beach, North Vancouver and Toronto’s East End respectively. These sites aim to match volunteers with locals in need, especially those who are at a higher risk of health complications from COVID-19.

“It’s friends and neighbours helping vulnerable community members with necessities, like rides for medical appointments or food supply trips or pet walking,” explains Johnson. “It’s asking for help and offering help in the same group.”

If you’re looking for ideas for ways to give back in these unprecedented times or simply some feel-good news, we encourage you to frequent REALTORSCare.ca and follow REALTORS Care® on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
