National Ad Campaign a ‘Smash Hit’

The Canadian Real Estate Association’s (CREA) new national ad campaign recently launched, which includes a TV commercial entitled, “Total Regret in my Heart,” a play off Bonnie Tyler’s smash hit single from the 1980s. Developed by CREA’s National Ad Campaign Committee and award-winning ad agency, Union, the ad highlights how REALTORS® protect consumers from some of the problems and pitfalls that can arise when going it alone… all while creating an ear worm of a tune that has staying power.

This year’s campaign continues on the success of our previous ads—dramatizing, through various scenarios, how there’s nothing sadder than regretting the largest transaction of your life. The ad informs consumers about the type of counsel, expertise and know-how REALTORS® can provide to help home buyers feel good about their decision.

The spring 2019 campaign focuses on several aspects DIYers might not think about when purchasing a home: potential construction projects impacting quality of life, bug problems in the neighbourhood, and whether or not a sewage plant down the road will stink up your bedroom.

Of course, we use hyperbole to drive the point home to viewers that they should use a REALTOR® because a real estate professional can prevent home buyers from making these mistakes.

On top of the TV commercial, our national ad campaign uses digital media advertisements such as banner ads on consumer websites and short digital ads, not to mention our Radio Co-op program.

Keen observers will notice we shifted away from the famous, “Oooooh!” used in past successful ads like, House Rules, Metalfest and Bikers, but the “No Regrets” sentiment remains a key campaign element.

As a REALTOR®, you can make use of various campaign materials such as residential banner ads, commercial banner ads, and digital video to place on your website. Our only recommendation is you indicate CREA as the source of the material.
