REALTORS® Made a Big Impact in 2022

No matter who needed our support or when they needed it, local communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast could count on REALTORS®.

Throughout 2022, the REALTOR® community rallied behind three REALTORS Care® fundraising campaigns to support the Canadian Red Cross’s appeals for flood relief in British Columbia, the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis, and Hurricane Fiona. Combined, REALTORS® donated more than $700,000 to these campaigns! Since the launch of our first fundraising campaign in 2010, the REALTOR® community has raised a combined $1.9 million in support of Canadian Red Cross relief.

However, REALTORS® didn’t stop their giving with these campaigns. They organized their own fundraisers and food drives to support local charities, non-profits, and those in need.

In November 2021, two REALTORS® in British Columbia, Ron Basra, of Re/Max Select Realty in Vancouver, and Phil Moore, of Re/Max Crest Realty, saw the impact of local flooding and knew they needed to act. Bringing together fellow REALTORS®, clients, friends, church groups and others, they raised more than $46,000 and organized helicopter supply runs to deliver 30 tons of food and essential supplies to communities that were inaccessible by land in southern B.C..

A few months later, as news broke about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a REALTOR® with Century 21 Fusion in Saskatchewan, turned her sadness into action. Joining together with staff from the Saskatchewan REALTORS® Association (SRA), and fellow REALTORS®, Chilliak was able to arrange 11 donation drop-off locations for essential supplies to be shipped to Ukraine through the Saskatchewan non-profit, Stream of Hopes.

In addition to supporting the three fundraising campaigns and doing their own volunteer work, REALTORS® came together in November during CREA’s fourth annual REALTORS Care® Week to support housing and shelter-related charities. Throughout the week, REALTORS® found meaningful ways to contribute to organizations that serve some of the most vulnerable members of their communities, such as repairing affordable housing units, preparing care packages for those experiencing homelessness, bringing the holiday spirit to families far from home, distributing meals to community members in need, collecting essentials for shelter clients and raising much-needed funds, amongst others.

Across the country, REALTORS® made a big impact and showed when we come together, we can accomplish great things.
