PAC Days: Let’s Hit the Ground Running in 2020

With a federal election just around the corner, this year’s Political Action Committee (PAC) Days will play an important role in helping Canadians achieve their homeownership dreams in 2020 and beyond.

Beginning Sunday, Oct. 6, REALTOR® members from across Canada will once again gather in Ottawa to listen to panel discussions, participate in debates and attend workshops focused on the future of housing affordability and how it ties into the current political landscape in both Canada and the U.S.

Representatives from the five main political parties will participate in a housing debate to help kick off the two-day event. For this, CREA has partnered with the Canadian Housing Renewal Association, the Canadian Home Builders’ Association, Co-Operative Housing Federation of Canada and the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness to cover all aspects of the housing spectrum.

Special guests include Nik Nanos, Chair of Nanos Research, who will provide an overview of where each party stands two weeks away from election day, and David Frum, a Canadian-American political commentator who served as the speechwriter for President George W. Bush.

CREA will also be providing an update of our successful advocacy efforts over the past year, including raising the withdrawal limit of the Home Buyers’ Plan from $25,000 to $35,000 and the creation of the First-Time Home Buyer Incentive, giving eligible home buyers another feasible avenue to achieve their homeownership dreams.

PAC Days 2019 will make for a great opportunity to learn how to best approach those who will form Canada’s next Parliament so our collective voice is heard and we can ensure homeownership is a top priority
